Swimming in Sinai

Sliding into the water like a
shadow slipping round a corner.
Sinking below the surface like a
coin rolling through a slit in the wall.

It’s quiet down here.
But colours are loud.
Bright yellow, electric blue fish,
inky black urchins,
orange sea flora, waving.

Gliding through a deep water showcase,
floating alongside forms from another world.

Who hears the pink coral
breathing its last breath?
